In Tipperary ETB, a training need for Microsoft Certification was identified as a regional requirement in the IT Sector, through market research and collaboration with industry experts. Skills to Advance is a training initiative that addresses the training and development needs of employees and enterprise.

About this Microsoft Traineeship

This Traineeship has been designed specifically to meet the niche training needs of Tech/ICT companies in the region. The programme is being delivered over 16 weeks with learners required to attend one day per week for classroom-based tuition. Training is being hosted by IT Solutions in Clonmel. A number of Tipperary-based companies including Unitec, SolveIT, Echo IT, ActionPoint, Your PC and NTES have released staff to attend the training programme.

In addition to classroom-based tuition, all learners receive a full e-learning package with complete support throughout the programme. This is an effective overall ‘blended approach’ which is designed specifically for individuals or employees who already have IT Fundamentals and skills. This particular programme is comprised of the following components:

  • MTA Microsoft Operating Systems
  • MTA Networking
  • MTA Server Administrator
  • Azure Fundamentals

How to Apply

Through Skills to Advance, the financial cost of Training and Development is waived where employers agree to contribute in kind, by the release of staff for training.

Donal Bray, MD of Echo IT said “I have found that the skills training and certification provided by the ETB has benefited my staff and the company both from a technical and confidence standpoint. It is also standardising our quality and instilling a uniform approach to our Microsoft support service.”
